Arsenal are hoping to have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s three-game ban from his sending-off against Crystal Palace reduced.

Aubameyang now faces a three-game ban for his dismissal, but Arsenal are hoping the length of his absence from the team could be reduced.

Such a claim would fall under the FA’s regulation of a ban being deemed excessive punishment and Arsenal can lobby for it to be reduced.

The Gunners are not looking to have the Gabon international’s red card completely overturned, but they can ask the FA to have his punishment reduced.

The striker was sent off during Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park after VAR ruled his tackle on Max Meyer should be upgraded from a yellow to red card.

Aubameyang, who has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, has been in fine form this season and is Arsenal’s top scorer with 16 goals to his name.

Aubameyang is currently due to miss Saturday’s match with Sheffield United, Tuesday’s trip to Chelsea and the club’s FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Bournemouth.
