Arsenal have confirmed that defender Rob Holding has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament following their draw with Manchester United.

The defender was stretchered off at Old Trafford on Wednesday night after going down with a knock in the first-half.

Arsenal have now revealed that he will be out for six to nine months with this injury, which is likely to see him miss the rest of the season.

Holding has played a key role in Arsenal’s current good run of form, with Emery’s side unbeaten in 20 games in all competitions.

The 23-year-old has been a consistent figure in the Arsenal defence, with Arsenal now potentially needing to replace him in the January transfer window.

Holding joined Arsenal from Bolton in 2016 and made 26 appearances for the club last season, scoring one goal from defence.
