New Arsenal summer arrival Kieran Tierney has sent a signed shirt  to a young fan who saw his original shirt ruined by school ground bullies.

The classy gesture by the Gunners' full-back also saw him write a letter to 15-year-old Jack Staniard, sending his best wishes to the teenager.

“I know where he’s from and some of my mates have met him and said he’s a really nice guy.” Tierney has now returned to first team training with Arsenal following injury, and will be hoping to make his Gunners' debut within the next few weeks.

The Gunners' player sent the signed shirt, personalised with his name and the number three following the youngster's previous shirt being burned with cigarettes.

"I hope you make a full recovery physically and mentally and please keep me updated on your progress.” He added: “I heard you’re a big Arsenal fan which we truly appreciate and thank you for your support.” Upon receiving the gift, the teenager told the Scottish Sun of his happiness at getting the special replacement for his original shirt.

"I’d like to thank him very much for what he did for me," he said, “I’m a fan of both Arsenal and Tierney.

In the letter that accompanied the shirt, the Arsenal man wrote: Dear Jack, I understand that you have been through a tough time recently and experienced things most people don’t.
