Arsenal fear they will miss out on leading candidate Brendan Rodgers as their search for a new boss intensifies.

There are growing concerns that the Gunners will fail in luring the Leicester boss to the Emirates.

Rodgers's arrival at Arsenal would be relatively straight forward, with the manager having a £14million clause in his deal at Leicester.

Club legend Freddie Ljungberg is currently in interim charge of the struggling Gunners

However, convincing the Northern Irishman to leave the Foxes after less than a year in charge is likely to prove easier said than done.

Leicester have gone from strength to strength under Rodgers' guidance and there is an admission, privately, at Arsenal that persuading him to leave may prove too difficult.

Rodgers fits every criteria Arsenal are looking for as they work to fill the vacancy left by the Unai Emery's sacking last week.

But there is an increasing resignation that Rodgers is likely to stay with Leicester, who are on course for Champions League qualification.

Mikel Arteta, Max Allegri and Nuno Espirito Santo are among the other names Arsenal are considering.

Current interim Freddie Ljungberg will have they chance to make the full time job his own, but there are understood to be significant reservations over the Swede's suitability for the job on a permanent basis.
