Bayern Munich have identified Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno as a potential long-term successor for Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich.

Arsenal's continued defensive frailty has contributed to the 27-year-old keeping just eight clean sheets from 48 Premier League appearances but he has largely impressed since cementing his place in Unai Emery's new-look team.

Leno still has four years remaining on his current contract but, according to The Sun, Bayern will turn their attentions to the Arsenal star with Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen currently out of reach and happy at Camp Nou.

The former Schalke star kept a clean sheet on Saturday as Bayern crushed rivals Bayern Munich 4-0 to move back to with four points of the Bundesliga summit.

Bayern were linked with a move for Arsene Wenger, who has been out of work since leaving Arsenal at the end of the 2017/18 season, but the 70-year-old revealed he has turned down the offer of a short-term contract.
