Arsenal interim boss Freddie Ljungberg has said he is planning to speak to Arsene Wenger as he prepares for his first home match against Brighton.

“I would like to speak to [Arsene Wenger].

And ahead of his first match at the Emirates, he has admitted his players have been given a prolonged recovery period in order to avoid injuries during the busy festive period.

It’s up to the big bosses and what they want to do.” The caretaker boss, who is a favourite to take the Arsenal hot seat full time, also admitted he is planning to chat with Wenger in the coming days.

Ljungberg was handed the reins at the Emirates last week following the dismissal of Unai Emery, and led the Gunners to a 2-2 draw at Norwich at the weekend.

“Whoever played against Norwich will be training tomorrow.

Ljungberg, who spent nine hugely successful years with Arsenal from 1998-2007, said he is planning to adapt his team’s style in preparation of the visit of the south coast club.
