Dani Ceballos has reportedly suffered an injury scare on international duty with Spain.

The midfielder has been one of Arsenal’s stand-out players this season and linked up with Spain ahead of their European qualifiers against Norway and Spain.

Spanish outlet AS claims Ceballos is now a doubt for the clash with Norway on Saturday after picking up a hamstring issue.

The 23-year-old underwent an MRI scan on Tuesday after bowing out of training with muscular discomfort, which ruled out any serious injury.

Ceballos was unable to train fully on Wednesday morning and retired ten minutes earlier than his team-mates.

However, his early withdrawal from training was precautionary. Ceballos’ hamstring issue is thought to be fatigue related after his busy start to the season.

Unai Emery will not want to lose Ceballos to injury, but he is expected to be available when Spain take on Sweden on Tuesday.

Arsenal travel to Sheffield United once the international is over, with the Gunners sitting in third place in the Premier League.

Ceballos, on loan from Real Madrid, has emerged quickly as an influential player at the Emirates and hinted he could stay at Arsenal beyond the end of the season.

‘Going to Arsenal has been a very important step in my career,’ he said.

‘I don’t feel sorry for not being in Madrid. Right now I am where I want to be and I am very happy. My idea was to go out, play and enjoy football.

‘In the previous two years I had not done so. My goal is only to work to keep doing things right.

‘I have eight months left at Arsenal, I can only thank them for the confidence that the coach and fans have placed in me, who have already made me a song.

‘I am very happy there and I hope to continue for a long time.’
