Marcelo Bielsa claims Arsenal were 'unfair' to recall Eddie Nketiah from his loan spell at Leeds: 'We did everything we said we were going to do'Eddie Nketiah spent the first half of the season on loan with Leeds United He lacked game time but started two games either side of the New Year Arsenal recalled him and Marcelo Bielsa believes that decision was 'unfair'

Marcelo Bielsa has criticised Arsenal's 'unfair' decision to recall Eddie Nketiah from his loan spell at Leeds.

Nketiah moved to Elland Road towards the end of the summer transfer window in a season-long loan but he struggled for game time in the early stages of his temporary switch.

The striker would be handed two consecutive starts – his first in league football – in the games against Birmingham and West Brom either side of the New Year.

Marcelo Bielsa has criticised Arsenal's decision to recall Eddie Nketiah from his loan spell

The 20-year-old striker returned to Arsenal at the start of the January transfer window

Arsenal had already told Leeds they were intending to recall Nketiah prior to the West Brom game after his lack of action.

Leeds paid a significant loan fee in the summer to bring the 20-year-old in and did not receive any of it back when he returned to the Emirates.

And Bielsa made it clear that he was not happy that Nketiah – or fellow loanee Jack Clarke – were recalled by their sides.

Bielsa pointed out Leeds had done everything they said they would when it came to Nketiah

When he was speaking at his press conference on Thursday, Bielsa was asked about potential incomings.

He responded: 'About these new players in the team: I have done all the explanations, given all the information, the unfair treatment of Arsenal and Nketiah, the three of them to Leeds.

'When (Arsenal) choose Leeds, Leeds took an engagement to Arsenal's decision and Nketiah’s decision. They thought a lot about it. They choose us putting away other options they have.

Arsenal have decided to keep hold of Nketiah after he took part in training following his return

'We did everything we said we were going to do. So, we have nothing to claim ourselves.

'The same with (Jack) Clarke. In this moment we don’t have those two players and the club is going to do all is possible to resolve the situation.'

Arsenal have decided to keep hold of Nketiah this window rather than loaning him out to another Championship side.
