Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko is confident that his striker Wesley has the ability to play for Arsenal following speculation linking him with a move to the Emirates.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has caught the eye with his form in front of goal in the Belgian top-flight this season, scoring seven times in 15 league appearances to help Brugge into second.

In total, Wesley has netted 31 times for Brugge in 100 appearances since joining from Slovakian side AS Trencin and he has been tipped to make the next step in his career.

Valencia and Fiorentina have also been credited with interest in Wesley but Leko believes if he continues to work at his game, a move to the Premier League could beckon.

‘I’m sure Wesley has the level to play at Arsenal,’ Leko told Belgian publication La Derniere Heure.

‘He can be proud of what he’s been doing for the last six months; he’s working hard and he’s reaping the rewards, but to play in the Premier League you have to work harder every day.

‘If I’m worried about the rest of the season, there are smart people at the club who are preparing for the future and anticipating.

‘What will happen with (Emmanuel) Dennis, Wesley or (Hans) Vanaken at the next transfer window, I do not care yet.’

Only league leaders Manchester City have outscored Arsenal in the Premier League this season with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the division’s leading goalscorer with ten.

Alexandre Lacazette has also chipped in with six league goals but with Danny Welbeck out injured and tipped to leave next summer, Unai Emery could be tempted to bolster his attacking options.
