What is your message to the fans?

It's a good start. Thank you so much for all the time being so supportive, from the reception I got on the first day. When I walked through this incredible door I completely understood that the needs of this football club are so high.

I know the demands and expectations. It's a trophy, it's absolutely for them to take, to enjoy to be proud of the club they support and the players that they always cheer for.

Hopefully they can enjoy it together, maintain the distance please and enjoy because it's all yours.

A great trophy but there's a distance between this and challenging for the league. Is this the first stepping stone?

Yes, I knew the challenges I was facing the day I made a decision to come here and the expectation that we're always going to have because the history and the legacy of this football club is incredible.

But here is the first one. Let's enjoy it today. We know there's a long way to go to improve on many other things but it's something that I am very proud of, how we have changed a lot of things since we joined.

The players have been fantastic, the staff, thank you so much as well to the people upstairs who have given me the opportunity to represent and to manage this incredible football club.

Again thanks to the people for their support and their belief.

Aubameyang won't be going in goal after dropping the trophy

It can happen. He needs more experience with trophies. We can get him used to that.

You paid tribute to Pep Guardiola

There are two people. One is Lorenzo Bonaventura the fitness coach and the other one is Pep. They've been two key figures in my development as a coach.

They've always believed in me, they gave me an incredible opportunity to work with both of them and it is my gratitude. I know that I wouldn't be sitting here today without them. We had an incredible journey together and always they gave me the freedom to decide my future even if it wasn't a very easy moment.

I have to thank them big time because they are a big part of that.

Can you talk through Aubameyang's contribution today

Big games require big moments for big players. He delivered that in the semi-final and he has done it again in the final. That's why you ask about those players.

Some of them were questioning that he could not do it in big games. There we go. He was a big, big part in delivering this trophy.

He has done it and we're so proud to have a player like him in our squad.

You've won it as a captain, assistant and manager. Is the latter the greatest moment of your career?

I think so. I'm really proud of what we have achieved because I know the difficulties and everything that we have been through.

For me personally it has been so tough in the last six months when a lot of things have happened in our lives but I had only one mission when I came here, to make the players and staff believe that we could do it.

We had to change that energy and that mentality and just by seeing them in the dressing room altogether, the way they enjoy their profession and the time together is what makes me more proud. It's a consequence of all that that we can achieve things and win titles together.

You had the likes of William Saliba and Shkodran Mustafi here today

They're all part of it. We don't have here Matteo [Guendouzi] and Mesut [Ozil], they're a big part of it because they all contributed in here.

They all should be a big part of it. All of them contributed to this trophy.

Should we read anything into the fact Mesut and Matteo weren't here today?

No, let's enjoy.

You seemed to use the drinks break to rally the player and change tactics, is that correct?

We can always use those moments to make some corrections and give valuable information to the players to help them on the pitch. I think after we conceded the goal was probably the best 35 or 40 minutes since I arrived here against a team that's in my opinion one of the best in Europe now.

The way they've been performing, the result they had against any team in the last few weeks, big credit to our players.

Could you reflect on how tough this has been as an introduction to management for you personally?

I think I could write a book. It was day after day. Mark [Gonnella, Arsenal director of communications] has been along the way with me every day. Every day was something different, it was always an issue, it was always players in the park or another problem.

I am very lucky, the people I have around me in the staff and the people that supported me for every decision I have to make. Until you are sitting in this seat you don't know the responsibility and the decisions you have to make.

I try to make them all the time with my heart and with my gut feeling on what I believe is the best first of all for the group of players and after for the club. Sometimes we get it wrong but I am proud of what we've done.

Could you have made it through this period if it wasn't at a club that means so much to you?

That has added a lot of pressure on me because I know the standards and expectations that are linked with this club but also I knew a lot of the insides and the people at the club who could fill me with available information in order to accelerate a little bit the processes.

I had to rely on them big time, they've been really supportive and jumped on board with me straight away when I joined.

What makes you so confident Aubameyang will stay and can we expect to hear some news on him in the next week?

I hope so. Everything is based on my conversations with him, how he sees his future, what I expect from him, the team I want to build around him and the conversations I have with the people that are very influential around him.

We all respect him, we admire him. We know the players we have and we have to value him. If we reach all of those points I think we'll get an agreement.
