Freddie Ljungberg has admitted that he 'feels sorry' for Eddie Nketiah who has struggled to break into Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds starting XI this season.

The 20-year-old is still yet to start in the Championship but has five goals in 13 games across all competitions.

Ljungberg was understandably cautious when asked about the striker's situation but sent a clear message to the Leeds boss nonetheless.

"It would be great if it was a game Saturday to Saturday and we had a few training sessions to keep on working with things," Ljungberg said.

"I need to be careful but I think Eddie is a great player," he said after taming a face-filling grin.

An opportunity to hand Nketiah his first Championship start, Bielsa may be able to quieten calls from Arsenal fans for the striker to be recalled.

"I feel a bit sorry for him because he is a great player and the future of this club.
