Mesut Ozil worked hard but created barely any chances for his side on SaturdayPierre-Emerick Aubameyang needed to do more to rally Arsenal as new captain

James Maddison and Jamie Vardy both scored as Leicester eased past Arsenal to move up to second.

After a goalless first half, Leicester came out with real vigour and intent and found the breakthrough when Vardy finished off a lovely, flowing team move.

Sportsmail's Nick Callow was at the King Power and assessed the performance of every individual.

Goals from James Maddison (L) and Jamie Vardy (R) secured Leicester victory against Arsenal

He relishes the big occasion, not that this turned out to be one of them as but had little to do against a shot shy Arsenal attack. Great distribution with his powerful throwing. 7

A solid right-back display and some wonderful wing work created what should have been a goal for Ndidi. 7

Seemingly unflappable at the heart of the Leicester defence, no wonder they do mot seem to be regretting selling Harry Maguire to Manchester United. 6

Caglar Soyuncu was solid again for Leicester at the back and barely let attackers get a sniff

A calm, confident, captain's performance from a player who seems to be getting better with age. 7

A menace e to the right hand side of Arsenal's defence Bellerin and Chambers struggled to stop his rampaging runs and incisive crosses. A shame, for Leicester he was equally exposed when Bellerin went on the counter attack. 6

Leicester's link man was strong in the tackle and distributed the ball well. Guilty of a shocking miss when he rattled the bar but key role in their second goal. 7

The Belgium midfielder has had better matches, not that this was a bad one, and he was always trying to get involved. Crucial assist for Vardy's goal. 6

Youri Tielemans wasn't quite at his best but still managed a vital assist for Leicester's first goal

Leicester's driving force and most likely to break down Arsenal's stubborn resistance with a telling pass or searing shot. Looked a class above at times. Great goal. 8

Always looking for the ball and then to get at Arsenal's midfield and defence. Missed a great headed chance just before half-time. 6

Too quick for Kolasinac and co. on the Arsenal right, the slick surface suited his quick feet and ability to dribble at pace..Faded after the break. 6

Prowled the Arsenal back line like a hungry, caged animal desperate to break free. And, having hardly touched the ball, did just that when he scored with trademark precision after 68 mins. 8

Vardy showed his lethal instinct in front of goal by tapping in the opener for the Foxes

60: Gray (on for Perez) was bright and direct and had a few decent efforts on goal

73: Praet (on for Barnes) added fresh legs at a time when Rodgers was looking to close the game out.

Subs not used: Ward, Justin, Morgan,Albrighton, Choudhury

Made a commanding start in difficult conditions to dominate his box from a flurry of crosses in driving wind and rain. No chance of stopping the goals. 6

A much improved player again showed why Emery continues to show faith in someone comfortable across the back lime. A crucial challenge to stop a Vardy goal. 7

The former Chelsea man looked much more secure in the middle of a back three and showed some of his renowned attacking skills too, dribbling into attack to have a go or two on goal. 6

A long awaited league start, but looked out of position playing on the left of a back three. Improved as the match went on. 6

Rob Holding looked off the pace and out of position playing on the left-side of a back three

An impressive comeback for the Spaniard in his first Premier League start of the season. Played as a wing back when not filling in at right back A rusty pass almost gifted Leicester lead and struggled in latter stages. 6

Recalled to play in his favoured left wing-back role and stuck to his duties well but no reason to suggest he is due a long run in the side based on this performance. 6

Added a bit of tackling tenacity as Granit Xhaka's replacement, but conceded free-kicks in dangerous areas and failed to impress 5

A typically energetic night from the young French midfielder. His play lacked an attacking edge, but that is not what he is was there for. 6

Another step in his reintegration to regular first team football was also a reminder why is no longer an automatic selection. Worked hard for little end product. 5

Mesut Ozil did not create enough and was virtually absent for long periods in the match

Hard to judge when he hardly got a kick, which says a lot about the players around him. Will have better matches. 5.

Arsenal's new captain at least had the ball in the back of the net but was far enough offside for even VAR not to get involved. Saw little of the play, but needed to do more to rally his team. 5.

76 Pepe (on for Holding) loads of energy and enthusiasm but not given enough time to make an impact.

80 Willock (on for Torreira) a strange substitution with the game already lost. Perhaps he should have started.

Subs not used: Martinez, Tierney, Sokratis, Martinelli, Saka.

Referee: Christopher Kavanagh 7/10 always up with play and did not make any glaring errors. 7
