Mauricio Pochettino wants to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United, having become ‘enchanted’ by a move to Old Trafford last year, but is also open to taking over at Arsenal.

Pochettino was only sacked by Tottenham Hotspur a matter of weeks ago but is ready to bounce straight back into club management, with United his preferred destination.

He was replaced in north London by Jose Mourinho – the man he was tipped to replace at Manchester United once the former Chelsea manager had been sacked by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

From that point on, Pochettino was ‘enchanted’ by the thought of managing one of the biggest clubs in world football but his plans to take over at Old Trafford were scuppered by then caretaker manager Solskjaer winning 14 of 19 games to earn the permanent position.

Since becoming full-time manager, Solskjaer has failed to replicate that form and United have won just four Premier League matches of the 14 they’ve played.

Following Pochettino’s Spurs sacking, he is under increased pressure heading into crunch fixtures against Mourinho’s Tottenham and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

And Pochettino is waiting in the wings to replace Solskjaer, should Woodward and co. decide to pull the plug on the Manchester United legend, according to Manchester Evening News.

He would also be open to a move to the Emirates, despite his Tottenham Hotspur ties.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to frustrate any Premier League club hoping to appoint the Argentine before the summer, with a clause in his exit package meaning compensation has to be negotiated with the Tottenham chairman.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also admirers of the former Southampton manager, who issued a come-and-get-me plea to any clubs on the lookout for a new manager.

‘I am open to listen to the projects that are presented to me. My intention is to redirect in Europe,’ Pochettino said on Monday.

‘At my age one does not need much time to recover. There are a lot of clubs and attractive projects for me to take on.’
