Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang lit up Wembley with a clinical brace before blundering through the FA Cup trophy.

Aubameyang was again Mikel Arteta's saviour as the Gunners came from a goal down to beat Chelsea in Saturday's Final at the national stadium.

After Christian Pulisic's smart opener, Aubameyang was bundled over in the box by Cesar Azpilicueta and dusted himself down to restore parity with a beautifully-placed penalty before half-time.

The Gabon international then danced past Kurt Zouma before lifting a cute chip over Willy Caballero to seal the victory.

While his strikes were sumptuous, his trophy handling perhaps left a little to be desired.

After picking up the trophy (base included) he fumbled before dropping into in front of his Arsenal colleagues. The 31-year-old, whose future at Emirates Stadium is far from certain, laughed off the gaffe before enjoying holding the trophy aloft on the Wembley pitch.

Customarily, Aubameyang would have lifted the silverware in the Wembley Royal Box, where such a slip may have had a more lasting impact on the cup. However, Covid-19 restrictions meant the celebrations were kept to the turf and perhaps spared the striker further blushes.

Speaking about Aubameyang's future after the game, Arteta said: "He knows what I think about him, I want to build a squad around him," the Gunners boss said on BBC One.

"I want him to stay, it is about getting the deal done.

"I think moments like that will help him to believe we are on the right path and he is a big part of it. He is loved by everyone at the club. I think he will (stay)."
