Caglar Soyuncu could play for any top team in the Premier League.

That's the view of former Leicester City, Liverpool and England centre-forward Emile Heskey.

Despite the departure of Harry Maguire to Manchester United for a fee believed to be in the region of £85m last summer, the Foxes have one of the meanest defences in the top-flight this season.

Much of the credit has fallen on Soyuncu's shoulders as he's enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at the King Power Stadium after being on the fringes following his move from Freiburg in August 2018.

Not only has his partnership with Jonny Evans been heavily praised, the Turkey international is being tipped for a move to league leaders Liverpool.

Reacting to such rumours, Heskey doesn't believe a move to Anfield will happen this summer for Soyuncu but insists the central defender can handle the pressure of playing for a top club.

"Soyuncu would fit in well at any club," Heskey told GentingBet.

"He’s taken the role of centre back at Leicester, which was a very important role, following the footsteps of Wes Morgan and Johnny Evans, and no one knew what to expect of him.

"But he’s taken it by the scruff of the neck and he’s really improved and given something extra as well as he’s good on the ball.

"I don’t see him going anywhere, even Liverpool, as Leicester don’t need to sell unless they want to and they don’t have a ready-made player to fall into his spot.

"However, if Leicester did want to sell, Soyuncu could go to any of the top clubs."

Heskey's bold prediction will be music to the ears of many Arsenal fans as Soyuncu was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium during Unai Emery's first transfer window as head coach.

Following the departure of Calum Chambers on loan to London rivals Fulham and the fact that Laurent Koscielny was due to miss the start of last season through injury, there was a feeling amongst Arsenal fans that they should have signed Soyuncu.

However, they weren't able to seal a deal for former head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat's main transfer target and it's looking like a massive mistake.
