Chelsea launch Paredes bid

Chelsea have launched an official bid of £26.8million for Zenit Saint Petersburg star Leandro Paredes, according to reports.

The Evening Standard claim they have earmarked the Argentine as the ideal replacement for Cesc Fabregas who recently joined Monaco.

However, it is also said that Chelsea may have a problem as the Russians will reject their opening offer.

They paid Roma £24million to sign him in July 2017 and want a significant profit on a player who has impressed during his time at the club.

Chelsea have turned their attention to the 24-year-old as Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella, 21, is reportedly not keen on moving to England.

And they might now look to offer Parades a bumper deal to convince him to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.

No deal for Rossi

Giuseppe Rossi is training with Manchester United but will not be signing for them in January, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"No, [Rossi] will not sign with us,” Solskjaer said.

“He’s training well with us, I see him beautifully perky.

“He is looking for a team to sign him, so he will still be training again next week, until some club will call him.”

Gueye set for PSG

Everton ace Idrissa Gueye is closing in on a move to PSG - and has already been looking into where to live in Paris.

The midfielder has been identified as a midfield general as Adrien Rabiot gets set for Barcelona.

And L’Equipe say the deal is now close with Everton revealing their asking price.

Gueye featured for Everton in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday.

Sarri wants Ampadu progress

Maurizio Sarri claims Ethan Ampadu could be a replacement for Cesc Fabregas in the future.

“Of course, playing as a central midfielder in our team is not easy,” he said.

“We need to try and try and try in training, but I think that he is able to do it.

“In the future maybe he can step up, but we have to work.

“The player who plays in that position usually touches about 120, 130 balls [per game], so I think we need a specialist there.”

Emery eyes Monaco ace

Unai Emery is keen on £9m-rated Monaco midfielder Youssef Ait Bennasser, according to reports in Italy.

The Arsenal boss has admitted that financial constraints mean the club are only chasing loan deals during the January transfer window.

And it seems the Gunners may be working on a move that would see them snap up Ait Bennasser now before securing his services on a permanent basis in the summer.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claim Arsenal are currently showing the strongest interest in acquiring Ait Bennasser.

The 22-year-old Morocco international has been one of few bright sparks for Monaco this term.

And, with Emery an admirer since he was Sevilla gaffer, Ait Bennasser is on Arsenal’s wish list.

Doucoure: I'm leaving

Watford ace Abdoulaye Doucoure says he is leaving the club - after links to PSG.

Speaking to French TV station Canal Plus: “I think I am going to leave Watford. The club know my ambitions and want to help me get to the next level.

“I'm flattered by the interest of PSG but for the moment there's nothing concrete. I will focus on my performance for my club.

“I've not had contact with PSG and they've not contacted Watford. My goal is to play well for Watford and then maybe join a Champions League team.

“The chances of me joining PSG? Probably small as they follow a number of players. I'm not the priority that's for sure but if there is an opportunity then we will look into it....This winter we'll study all possibilities on offer. The most important thing for me is to continue to progress and with my performances I'll succeed in playing for a club in Europe.

“Staying in England is a possibility and the Italian league is becoming more interesting. There are clubs who have returned to show interest in me again. The first criteria for me is that the club plays in the Champions League.”

Skriniar hands off warning

Inter Milan boss Luciano Spalletti insists ‘no one’ has the money to sign Milan Skriniar, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

The defender has impressed in Serie A and is one of the most sought after defenders in world football - but Spalletti says he’s staying put.

"I'm sorry but no one has money to sign Milan Skriniar,” Spalletti said.

“He'll stay at Inter for sure. There's no price for him.”

Arsenal to hold Suarez talks

Arsenal will pick up talks with Denis Suarez over a move from Barcelona today.

The Gunners are keen to seal a deal to bring the midfielder in on loan despite Barca’s preference for a permanent deal.

And, according to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira they will speak with Barcelona again today.

“#Arsenal is continuing to talk with #Barcelona for #DenisSuarez (agreement with Sanllehi),” he tweeted. “Unai #Emery has offered a transfer on loan with option to buy.

“Blaugrana prefers a permanent deal. Monday there will be new contacts between Gunners and Barca.”

Chelsea in Higuain talks

Chelsea are in talks with Juventus over a deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain, Express Sport understands.

Chelsea want to sign Higuain in a deal that would likely send Alvaro Morata back to Spain.

But negotiations are set to prove tricky.

Chelsea want to take the remaining six months off Higauin’s loan deal at AC Milan and transfer it to them.

They then want to sign Higuain on loan for a further 12 months in the summer.

And then, at the end of the 2019/20 season, they will sign the striker permanently.

However, it is understood Juventus want to insert clauses into the deal so that Chelsea would buy Higuain outright at the end of THIS season if they qualify for the Champions League for 2019/20.

Coady eyed by Arsenal and Liverpool

Liverpool and Arsenal could fight it out for Wolves captain Conor Coady in the summer - but his current employers are keen to avoid a transfer battle by offering him a new contract.

The Daily Mail claim the Merseyside outfit are monitoring Coady’s progress having performed excellently for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side since being moved into central defence last season, having previously played in midfield and then at right-back.

But it is also reported that Unai Emery’s Arsenal are scouting Coady because of his abilities on the ball and the Spanish coach’s desire to play out from the back with the Gunners.

However, Wolves plan to act before either Liverpool or Arsenal can potentially pounce and are keen to open contract talks.

Coutinho latest

Philippe Coutinho is likely to remain at Barcelona at least until the summer due to his family life in the city.

His second daughter has been born recently and Coutinho wants to give the move to Barcelona a chance despite his recent struggles.

He was named in the starting XI last night as Barca overcame 3-0 Eibar last night.

It was his first start in La Liga since December 2.
