Chris Wilder has spoken openly about Sheffield United's interest in highly-rated Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun following reports from The Mail that the Gunners rejected a £3million bid for the youngster.

Balogun's rise in the past two seasons in particular has seen him become one of the most exciting prospects at London Colney alongside Tyreece John-Jules, Matt Smith and Trae Coyle - who have all secured loan moves for the 2020/21 season.

He did, however, responded with single tweet with what could be considered as a cryptic message - an hourglass emoji, the day Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's three-year contract extension was announced.

Balogun using the same messaging on social media excited Arsenal fans over the possibility of him staying but nothing has been confirmed.

With his current contract winding down, the 19-year-old has been the subject of speculation this summer, with it reported that Arsenal would be willing to part ways with him for a sum of £8million.

Hours before his stay was confirmed, the club captain posted an hourglass emoji in which the 'time had run out'.
