Manuel Pellegrini has called on Nuno Espirito Santo to reject any interest from Arsenal and stay at Wolves .

But West Ham boss Pellegrini insists it would not be “correct” for Santo to leave for north London in mid-season.

Pellegrini said: “I don't think a serious manager can leave a club for another during the season.

The Portuguese 45-year-old is in the frame to succeed Unai Emery at the Emirates with Wolves in the top seven of the Premier League and into the knockout stages of the Europa League.

“But I don't think that is a correct way to try to leave my club for another because in that moment you're doing well.” Pellegrini dismissed the idea that the opportunity of a big club like Arsenal was one that the manager of a club outside the top six could turn down.

Both managers are in a good moment and I don’t think they would throw it all out for another option.

Speaking ahead of West Ham’s game against Santo’s Wolves side at the London Stadium on Wednesday night, he insisted he’d never left any club in the lurch.
